How Much Control Does God Have of our Daily Lives?

One summer when I was sixteen I served as a camp counselor at a Catholic campground in southern Ohio. We were having a family activity one night there and it was family rosary. Which for you non catholic readers basically a prayer night. We were outside in a grassy plain. However a large amount of gray clouds hovered over us threatening to ruin our night. The priest who was leading the rosary reached out his hands and prayed this, "Lord please hold back the rain so your people can pray." As soon as he said this a huge crackle of thunder banged, and rain began to pour hard. We all became soaked and retreated into a covered pavilion. I could not help but chuckle about how the plea of the priest was ignored. The look on his face, and tone of his voice seemed as if the red sea would have parted in front of us.   I have always remembered this story whenever I myself cried out to God for a miracle. I too chuckle at myself when it seems like I get no answer or the wrong answ...

The Power of The Soul

My heart yearns for God. It seeks something that I do not see and something I at many times do not feel. Nonetheless the urge,  the inclination to seek my creator is there. What is that instinct? And where does it come from?   It comes from deep down in my soul. The creator put that desire in my DNA when he infused me with a soul. A soul that is meant to last for an eternity. The soul marks me with a true identity. The identity that I am a child of God. Just my body alone  truly does not define who I am. The reason being is that when I let my race or family heritage define me I separate myself from the children of God around me. I declare those traits superior to being made in the imagine and likeness of God.  The fact of the matter is the more I reject God and run from His Grace the more of an animal I become. I lose sense of my soul and it is numb to me. My passions and weaknesses over power me and I give into every urge and temptation. Without God I am powerless...

We Totally Enjoy Chaos!

In our American culture today it seems as if we enjoy division. This definitely is clear in our politics. Our senators, congress men and women, judges, and governors do not get along.  Neither do we as individual Americans get along. We are constantly pitted at one an another not willing to walk in each other shoes. This is not good for America. This is not good for us as individuals. We must heal as a nation or perish as individuals. But deep down inside we enjoy this chaos, this endless drama.  You know who else loves chaos? The Devil loves Chaos. He is the king of all Lies and he must be enjoying the show our nation is giving him. He knows when were caught up in in our political disputes we lose focus on God. When we lose focus on God we forfeit our knowledge on truth. With God out of the picture we no longer posses wisdom. When wisdom is dormant we can not discern what is right and  what is wrong.  Sadly division is not only found in our politics. It is a...
