Just A Pinch Of Incense To Caesar

During the early Christian persecution in the Roman Empire, many Christians standing on death row were asked to merely burn a pinch of incense in front of the Emperor's statue. If they would do this their lives would be spared. They were told they didn't even have to mean it. All they had to do was just go through the motions of accepting a Roman god! In response, most Christians refused and were martyred because they realized only Jesus was worthy of their love and worship. And no worldly compromise whether a handful or pinch size was worth risking their eternal soul.

Here in America, about 1,950 years later, we live in a culture that is ramming pinches of incense into our mouths. The thing is we don't have to swallow. And we mustn't swallow. Our culture has disbanded prayers to Jesus Christ in our schools. It has indoctrinated pre-marital affairs and gay lifestyles to our youth. It has created an identity crisis for males and females through diversity classes that teach one chooses their own gender. Worst of all it uses good wholesome things and activities such as, Netflix and professional sports, to promote its sinful propaganda.

Just like the Romans, our culture doesn't say we have to believe in these falsehoods. We just merely have to accept these realities and live with them. We just need to put up with legalized sin, and smile like everything is just fine. If you choose not to, the culture is quick to label you socially as a bigot, a homo phoebe, or even a racist. You could lose your job, or even have your business boycotted. Your name will be slandered, and your reputation tarnished.

I can't speak for you. I can only speak for myself. But I choose through God's grace to stand for truth just like the saints before me took a stand. I think of St. Polycarp, and St. Perpetua in the Roman Colosseum, and of St Thomas More in the London Tower. Their boldness gives me strength to live and promote my faith in a day and age where the culture wants it snuffed out.

We need to come together as a Catholic community, and attack this evil culture head on. A group is more powerful than one individual. We must fight for Truth no matter how much push back we get. "The more righteous your fight, the more opposition that you will face." President Trump.
