Recognizing Sin in a World Filled with Justification

One of my readers requested that I write about the topic "Recognizing Sin in a World filled with justification." The topic intrigues me and the way the reader worded it touched me in a deep way. Well my first thought is that we live in a victim culture and a very narcissist culture. We are at the center of the universe and our ideology is that "the people surrounding our daily lives seem to always be harming our happiness. We are innocent of all pride and greed but our neighbors are filled with it."

Secondly I believe religion as a whole condemned certain acts as sin so much that it caused these "sinners" to rebel against these beliefs. Religion seemed to step way over their bounds because they judge harshly and very biasly. Being gay, an adulterer, committing suicide was the straight path to hell according to these churches. What these silly religions and churches failed to realize was that Jesus, there God, condoned the Scribes and Pharisees of his day for being hypocrites and he forgave the sexually immoral and "sinners" in Jewish culture.

The moral of Jesus' radical message was to not judge another man's heart. Only God can judge. However that does not give us a freebie to sin. Our world today gives us half-truths. They make Jesus, a liberal who wants to care for the sinner yet the sinner need not put effort into repentance. "Jesus saves and picks you up from the mud." Well yeah God does! But you have to get up from the mud, and want to leave your sin behind.

To recognize our sin in this day and age we must be searching and open to truth. We do that by forming our conscience. When our conscience is formed we can actually be contrite about our wrongdoings toward God, each other, and to ourselves. When we are contrite we are willing to repent and make up for our sins. The only reason Jesus could actually forgive the adulterers, tax collectors, and etc was because they actually were sorry. God can not force his forgiveness on you. The world is filled with justification because it has no conscience. Let us form our conscience by finding truth and look with empathy towards people around us. A little reminder here, Truth only comes from God.
