The Pursuit of Happiness
Hello reader! How are you doing today? I am curious, are you stuck in your nine to five day job? Are you bored in your retirement? Does it just seem that days come and go with little or no fulfilling purpose? In our world today we as buyers/consumers are constantly being sold "happiness." A new car, a new house, peanut butter fudge ice cream, and NBA tickets, are just a few products that are made know to us that are supposed to make us happy for a time. But we could also try using a new diet to lose weight or learning a new instrument to make our life more meaningful. While all those things can be nice thrills we must know we can never truly be happy in this world.
We can never truly be happy because we live in time. Each moment of our life is ticking and each moment will come to an end. Think of your happiest moment. Maybe it was a birthday, or a Christmas when you were young. Maybe it was a Thanksgiving when your whole family was gathered around the table or a special road trip with a love one. All those moments have passed. Your happiness parted with them.
How are we to pursue fulfilling full happiness in this world? Well that would mean pursuing God who would than help you acheive inner peace. When you have inner peace your whole being is filled with joy. Joy is not the same thing as happiness. Joy is the by product of peace which comes from God himself.
Look forward to your eternity in Heaven with God. God is outside of time and so is eternity. No clock and no alarm will stop our happiness with our creator there. Try not to get caught up with earthly cheap thrills because they can distract us from ever finding the real Truth and the God who created us.
