Why is Life so Hard?
Many people say Life is a gift. They also say life is a beautiful thing. But many times life seems the complete opposite. Pain and suffering seem to face us on a daily basis. And for some of us it seems like we get a worse dose of suffering than our other human counterparts. More so if we are in a battle for our eternal salvation why must it be a battle why can't we just exist in a peaceful paradise.
There are many reasons why our life is an uphill battle. God did intend us too struggle but most of our pain is self inflected pain. We inherit pain and we give others around us suffering. God did not intend us to suffer like this so we cannot blame Him. We might say He allowed the drunk driver to plow his car into our loved one but God also allowed his own son, Jesus Christ to be murdered and die on a tree.

To truly understand why Life is Hard we must understand the passion of Jesus Christ. That God Man endured the uphill battle we endure everyday, He perfected it. He submitted his will to the Father. Let us say your in a bad situation. You totaled the only car you have and it seems impossible that you can replace it. You pray to God, "Lord please help me, I need a new vehicle to get to work or else I will lose my job." Your prayers receive no answers and you eventually lose your job. Should you hate God? Should you hate His existence? No! Because you remember the God Man. Jesus Christ hung on the cross suffering off loss of blood and lack of oxygen. He did not ask God to give Him a break or to release Him from the cross. Rather He asked ""Father, forgive them, for they don't know what they are doing." (Luke 23:34) Jesus accepted his suffering, his death. He did this because He knew through his death eternal life for all could be achieved. We must embrace our suffering because without suffering we cannot be united with Jesus Christ's sacrifice to atone for our sins and the sins of the world.
Another reason why life is hard is because God wants to test and teach us. He wants to teach us how to listen to his voice. When God talks to us He does not give us details. An example of this is the story of Abraham in the Book of Genesis. Abraham's wife Sarah was barren and could not have children. Despite this fact God tells Abraham he will be the father of many nations. In impatience Abraham sought out to make God's plans in his own way. He created a child with Hagar, Sarah's hand maid, who bore him the son Ishmael. However Ishmael was not the son God had planned. Eventually Issac, the son God originally planned was born through Sarah. We often act like Abraham and instead of waiting for God's time we make our own time. Our own time is miserable but with faith and hope in God all things are truly possible. Keep your head up. Keep marching forward and please remember to be grateful for your friends and love ones who make an effort to make our lives better. Let us also try and make the people around us have a better more joyful life.
